GMT - International Operations Office |
|
GMT has more than 25 years of experience conducting successful and innovative surface exploration surveys all over the world in geologically and environmentally diverse settings.
GMT is well known in the oil and gas industry for its research in petroleum microbiology and for hydrocarbon microseepage surveys. In the past few years, GMT has conducted more than 3.500 onshore and offshore surveys and analyzed more than 500.000 samples for more than 400 clients worldwide.
Geochemical methods have found their greatest utility when used in conjunction with available geologic and geophysical information. The principal strength of GMT’s soil gas and microbial surveys is the low cost, flexibility in the field, minimal environmental impact, and the value as a direct indicator of hydrocarbons.
GMT’s comparison of survey results with the results of subsequent drilling indicates that 80-95% of wells drilled in negative geochemical anomalies resulted in dry holes, whereas 60-85% of wells drilled in positive geochemical anomalies resulted in commercial petroleum discoveries.
